The Book of James: Daily Bible Study (James 1:1-4 NLT)
Today's Scripture...
This letter is from James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am writing to the “twelve tribes”—Jewish believers scattered abroad. Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
James 1:1-4
Welcome to the first day of our new daily Bible study! We will be starting this month with a study of the book of James, one of my favorite books in the Bible. It's a short but powerful book, full of practical wisdom that you can apply to your daily life.
During this study, we will cover a few verses each day until we finish the book. On the first day of each book, I will provide an overview and then share my insights, practical ways to apply the scripture, and a prayer to close out the day.
Get ready for a great year of Bible study. Let's begin!

Scripture Insights: Seeing your trials as opportunities for great joy?
This year, we will all face challenges and trials in our faith and in different areas of our lives. James emphasizes the importance of viewing these trials from a different perspective. Rather than seeing them as negative experiences, try to see them as opportunities for growth and joy. When you approach trials in this way, you have the power to change your experience of them. Remember that we are meaning-making individuals, and we often define the significance of events based on our perspective. So, the next time you face a trial, try to see it as an opportunity to strengthen your character and trust in God to work on you, in you, and through you.
Today’s Prayer: Dear God, I trust in You and Your plan for my life. Help me to surrender my fears and doubts to You and to trust in Your goodness and faithfulness. I pray that You would give me the strength and courage to follow Your will for my life, no matter what challenges may come my way. I know that You are with me always and that You have a good and perfect plan for my life in Jesus name Amen!
