The Book Of James: 1:22-25

Being a Doer of God’s Word

James begins this section on the importance of not just listening to God’s word but doing what it says. Do you ever struggle to apply the word of God to your everyday life? Maybe right now you are finding it difficult to find the intersection between understanding and the practical application of its principles in your life.

Consider this, as you continue to dive into the word each day, whether that be in your own personal bible time or studying with us here, applying the word can be as simple as working on your thinking and how you see your current life challenges like we discussed in day one. Learning how to manage your emotions by not letting yourself blow up with anger anytime someone frustrates you like we talked about yesterday. Alongside being a student and making the commitment to pray, study, and get into God’s presence daily.

This is part of the “doing” that we can all make the decision to carry out each and every day as we build a firm foundation in Christ. God’s word makes us free as we continue to learn what it means for our life equipping us to overcome strongholds, break curses, and deliver us from any demonic forces in our life.

Remember as you read the Word and study it, take the time to meditate on what you read or on what you have heard. Meditating is to think and ponder and not just quickly receive and move on to the next thing. When you find a verse or a promise that speaks to your situation, commit it to memory or write it down and speak it over your life on a daily basis several times a day.

Stay focused to not forget what you are hearing each day and apply it to your life so the Holy Spirit can continue to transform your life and the lives of those around you this year.

Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your guidance and help as I seek to listen to and apply Your word to my life each day. I desire to have a deep understanding of You and to fulfill the purpose You have for my life in advancing Your kingdom. Grant me the patience, endurance, and mental strength to continually seek a closer relationship with You and share Your love with others. In Jesus name, Amen.
